Principals

Chris Madison

Principal and Project Manager

Chris' career in video and internet development spans twenty-five years. She has deep expertise in media development, e-learning and web site development. Her passion in web work — whether designing an e-commerce, e-learning or informational site — lies in creating successful web strategies that support the goals of the organization and site users.

Prior to founding Wired Moon, Chris was the Director of Business Development for Bright Wire, Inc., a high-end design house in San Francisco. Chris also served as the Director of Learning Technologies for Human Code, an interactive development company, and as a Manager of Client Relations in Learning Services at Sapient, a large San Francisco business and technology consultancy.
 
Chris also co-managed Stanford MediaWorks, part of the Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD) at Stanford University. At MediaWorks, she opened and managed video, CD-ROM and Internet development groups. Chris served as Executive Producer of more than 50 major web sites and interactive projects at Stanford, several of which won major industry awards. She also produced a wide range of documentary and informational video programs.
 
Chris was a Lecturer at Stanford University in the Stanford University Continuing Studies Program, where she taught a number of courses on creating successful web strategies and qualitative user research. She planned the Information and Web Technologies curriculum for several years.
 
Chris received her B.A. in Studio Art from Scripps College of the Claremont Colleges and has completed extensive coursework for her M.F.A.

Emery Gordon

Principal, Technical Lead 

Emery Gordon has more than 30 years’ experience in analyzing, developing, installing and supporting a wide range of databases, software languages, and Internet applications. Specializing in database design and application development, Emery brings a comprehensive understanding of hardware and software platforms to each project he oversees. He has more than 12 years’ experience using the Oracle tool set, along with extensive knowledge of the business practices and software requirements of various industries and professional practices.
 
As an expert user interface designer, Emery developed software and Internet projects at Roche Bioscience, Pacific Gas and Electric, Chevron, and other Bay Area corporations. He also managed EDP Support Services, developing and installing computer-based business systems in hundreds of midsize companies. 
 
Emery's most recent experience involved configuring and deploying of a large number of Drupal sites at Stanford University and other businesses. Emery has played a major role in all of the numerous Drupal sites done by Wired Moon.
 
Emery holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Core Team

Marianne Bishop

Project Manager

Marianne has 10 years' experience in project management, including budget analysis, resource allocation, scheduling, and collaborative partnering with clients. Projects she has overseen include soup-to-nuts web development projects, large-scale quality assurance projects, usability tests, demos for trade shows and other specially targeted audiences, and mission-critical consumer web initiatives. She stays focused on objectives and ensures success by working closely with clients to clearly define each step of the development process.

Prior to joining Wired Moon, Marianne managed the development of consumer-focused and business-to-business web initiatives for Fortune 500 companies, including Hewlett Packard, Walt Disney, and Seagate Technologies. She also worked with online companies such as eTrade and lowermybills.com.
 
Marianne holds a B.A. in Rhetoric and Communication from the University of California at Davis.

Maria Black

Experience Designer, Information Architect

Maria has a wide range of experience in usability and interaction design. With her expertise in usability, Maria helps clients test new product applications and trim both costs and time from their product development cycle. As a Senior Interaction Designer for Bank of America, she successfully created a new Global Treasury Services portal for corporate clients. She also conducted extensive competitive analysis and user studies to develop the strategic plan for redesigning B of A’s university recruiting site.

Maria is an accomplished information architect and user interface designer, who has worked in several industries including financial services, educational software, and multimedia advertising/marketing. Previous clients include companies such as Plantronics, Tropicana, NetApp, and State Farm Insurance.
 

Maria holds an MIS with an emphasis in Human-Computer Interaction from Indiana University and a B.A. from Oberlin College.

Wes Breazell

Visual and User Interface Designer

During Wes' eighteen year professional career, he has designed web sites for many Silicon Valley Fortune 500 companies, including Adobe System’s ActiveShare website. He has an impressive gallery of work that demonstrates his ability to deliver original artwork with visual impact. In addition to web sites, Wes designs packaging, marketing materials, trade show posters, newsletters, brochures, presentationware, and print ads. He is one of a few graphic designers able to create mechanical drawings by hand. At the 1994 Seybold Conference he won the first place award in the Third Annual Digital Art Contest.
 

Wes attended the San Francisco Academy of Arts, completing courses in 3D modeling, color theory, photography, CAD, and figure drawing.

Michael Hopkins

Software Designer, Information Architect and User Interface Designer

With over 25 years in the IT industry, Mike Hopkins brings experience with project management, systems design and development. His expertise in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and database/data warehouse applications allows him to serve high-tech startups as well as larger firms. From implementing manufacturing and financial systems to guiding companies through the hazards of implementing or converting ERP systems, Mike is an asset to any team.

In a previous role, Mike served as Vice President Information Systems at a leading company in the video-on-demand industry, where he oversaw all aspects of IT application development, implementation and maintenance (as well as network and data center operations). He and his staff overhauled the company’s worldwide data network, implemented Oracle Financials, built a data warehouse system of substantial commercial value and developed numerous tactical and strategic information systems to serve the rapidly changing corporate needs of the company.

Nels Johnson

Drupal Developer

Nels Johnson brings more than a decade of experience in web-related software development to Wired Moon, with particular expertise in Drupal, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX, PHP, MySQL, WordPress, X-Code, ASP, MS-SQL, ColdFusion, C++ and Visual Basic. He specializes in media-driven websites and mobile applications and has done front-end software development on most major platforms, including the iPhone.

Nels has served as CTO of several Internet startups. He has written code for Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Adobe, Oracle,  HP, MCAfee and Stanford University, among others. He has also written several books, including Web Developer's Guide to Multicasting and Windows Media 9 by Example. Nels is an instructor at UC Santa Cruz, College of Marin and Academy of Art.

Mauricio Mendez

Drupal and WordPress Developer

Mauricio has over six years of  project management, web development and design experience focused on WordPress and Drupal website development. He has extensive experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and JavaScript. His expertise lies in project conceptualization , identification of most suitable content solution delivery and subsequent project development taking into account clients’ aesthetic and technical needs.  His attention to detail as well as his ability to work with varying aesthetic and technical requirement styles has allowed him to work with a wide range of clients both domestic and international.

Mauricio has worked on websites such as  The Hendricks Institute (http://www.hendricks.com), Harambee USA Foundation (http://www. http://harambeeusa.org/), and is currently developing and supporting several sites for Wired Moon for Stanford University. 

Mauricio holds a BS from the Javeriana University, Bogota, Colombia

 

Himanshu Shakhar

Web Developer, Drupal Module developer, Drupal “Themer”

Blakish has over seven years’ experience in web development working with PHP, MySQL, XML, Ajax, Json, JavaScript, CSS, XHTML, and AS3 (flash). He has an extensive background in theming (Zen, phptemplate), Flash services and module development, including customizing modules to meet project requirements. Having developed more than 100 websites in Drupal, he has deep expertise in Drupal theming and module development; CCK, Views and Taxonomy modules; and Drupal profile creation.

Websites Blakish has worked on include Greencodetech (http://greencodetech.com), Beyond the Bride (http://www.beyondthebride.com.au), Comprehensive Behavior Healthcare, Inc. (http://www.cbhcare.com) and Stanford University sites such as the Vaden Intranet, IRiSS and IPS.

Kerstin Sjoquist

Information Architect, Usability Specialist, Web Production Manager

With more than 15 years’ experience, Kerstin is an expert at developing informational and instructional web sites, maintaining the often delicate balance between the user experience and client goals. With a great breadth of management, information design, and production experience, Kerstin traverses the worlds of the front-end user, the client organization, and the technical development team, ensuring integrated and successful projects.

Kerstin has completed more than 80 sites and is well-versed in HTML development as well as use of the Drupal content management system. In deploying and configuring modules such as Views, Panels, and CCK, she has leveraged Drupal's extensibility to meet a wide variety of client goals.

Kerstin’s specialties include website usability (including user testing) as well as content development best-practices and accessibility principles. Kerstin’s clients applaud her strong communication skills and ability to keep difficult projects on track and within budget.
 
As a Lecturer at Stanford’s Continuing Studies Program, Kerstin has taught web development courses such as Websites that Work; Evaluating Web Sites through User Testing; User Testing Hands-on Workshop; Strategic Problem Solving in the Real World: How to Create a Successful Web Presence; Introduction to Information Architecture; and Beginning Website Design. Kerstin also conducts workshops in Writing for the Web.
 
Previous roles include Information Architect for Sapient; Senior Producer and Information Architect at Human Code’s Learning Technologies Group; and Production Manager, Lead Information Architect and Usability Specialist at Stanford University’s MediaWorks. 
 

Kerstin holds a Master's Degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and trained at the Julliard School.
